18 deacons receive Holy Orders from Bishop of Mangalore

Mangalore, June 10: A total of 18 deacons, including 5 from Mangalore Diocese, 8 from the Carmelite Order, 2 from Kannur Diocese, 1 from Gumla Diocese, 1 from Hyderabad Diocese, and 1 from Vijayawada Diocese received Holy Orders at St. Joseph’s Seminary on June 9, Thursday.

Rev. Fr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese, celebrated the Holy Eucharist and conferred Holy Orders on the deacons. Rector Fr. Joseph Martis presented the deacons to the bishop.
Delivering the homily, the bishop urged the young priests to serve God and the community selflessly and generously. 


A felicitation ceremony was arranged for the young priests. The event was witnessed by parents, friends, relatives, and well wishers of the newly ordained priests as well as a large number of priests, nuns, and members of the laity. 


The newly ordained deacons are Fr. Patrick Sequeira of Mangalore, Fr. Edwin Monis of Mangalore, Fr. Paul Crasta of Mangalore, Fr. Praveen R. D’Souza of Mangalore, Fr. Melwyn John D’Souza of Mangalore, Fr. Arackal Benedict Joseph of Kannur, Fr. Areesh Stephen of Kannur, Fr. Vijay Kiran OCD, Fr. Joe D’Souza OCD, Fr. Rajesh D’Souza OCD, Fr. Ivo Dias OCD, Fr. Anil Prashanth Lobo OCD, Fr. Arun Sunil Lobo OCD, Fr. Pradeep Pinto OCD, Fr. Roshan Denzil Veigas OCD, Fr. Innareddy Akkanty of Hyderabad, Fr. Kujur Juel of Gumbla, and Fr. Vijay Pathapati of Vijayawada.
