Mangalore,Mar 15, 2014: Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim has informed that there are a total of 15,30,071 voters from eight assembly constituencies in the district as on January 31.
Speaking to reporters here on March 15, Saturday, the Deputy Commissioner said of the total number of voters, 7,72,188 are women while 7,57,883 are men voters. He said there have been 30,000 additional voters this time compared to the previous list.
The DC said a total of 1766 polling booths will be set up in the district. Enlisting guidelines for the candidates while filing nominations, he said candidates will have to seek prior permission of the authorities before organising any procession.
He also informed that the expenses of the procession will be included in the election expenses of the candidate. Moreover, only four members can come along with a candidate while filing nomination, he said.
The DC further informed that Bharath Electronics has provided 1980 upgraded controlling units and 2520 Balloting units for the elections and the testing of the same has begun at the Taluk office Mini Vidhana Saudha.
