Padubidri, Dec 26, 2019:  A marathon was organised with an aim of saving government schools as a part of the Polipu Educational Institutions Shatha Vajra Swarna Sambhrama.



The 14-km marathon was sponsored by Dr B R Shetty and C R Shetty Foundation, Bengaluru and was held from Malpe Bus station and Kaup Polipu. Former IPS officer Annamalai inaugurated the marathon. More than 300 participants participated from undivided Dakshina Kannada.

The winners in marathon for men are Sachin (first) and Manikanta (second).

In the women’s category, Malasri M B, Kavya and Anjali Sharvi won the top three prizes respectively.

Annamalai said that the discrimination of poor and rich in the country is affecting the growth in the education and health sectors. Parents and old students should jointly strive to save government schools, he advised.

MLA Lalaji R Mendon and others were present on the occasion.
