Udupi, June 09, 2020: State Health Minister B Sriramulu has said that Maharashtra returnees will henceforth be subject to home quarantine for 14 days and that their residences will be completely sealed down so that there is no scope for them to move out.
Speaking to reporters after participating in a meeting at the DC office on June 9, Tuesday, Sriramulu said the government has decided to do away with the institutional quarantine for Maharashtra returnees. He said the administration will use the services of police, Home Guards and ASHA workers to keep an eye on the houses that are sealed down.
The Minister said in case of apartments only the particular flat of the persons concerned would be sealed.
On the issue of private hospitals charging exorbitantly to treat Covid-19 patients, the minister said such hospitals will face action.
The Minister said so far 330 people were cured of Covid-19 and discharged from hospitals in the district while 611 are under treatment.
