12 yr old girl dies falling into unused, deep well at Bejai

Mangaluru, Dec 23 :  Despite best efforts by fire service personnel, the life of a 12 year old girl who  fell into an  unused deep well near the Bejai museum in the city on December 23, Tuesday morning could not be saved.

 

The girl Savitha who is the daughter of Parasappa and Shantabai from Badami in Bagalkot had reportedly climbed on to the wall of the well  and tried to reach the ball which had fallen on the net which covered the well when she slipped and fell into the well.

Rescue efforts  are said to be difficult as the well is quite deep and had slush apart from wastes dumped inside it. The family of the  girl resides in the neighbourhood.

Sources  said the girl had climbed on to the wall of the well despite warning against doing so. Latest information says that the fire service personnel are pumping out water from the well so that  they could enter it.

Though a fire service personnel had  earlier  tried to enter the well, he  could not owing to the stench in the well.
