1 dead, 4 injured as car lands in roadside ditch at Shirady

Puttur, May 07, 2019: A person from Bengaluru lost his life while four others were critically injured when the car in which they were travelling veered off the road and fell into a deep ditch at Shirady on the National Highway between Mangaluru and Bengaluru on May 7, Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Sunil. The mishap occurred after the driver lost control over the vehicle. The occupants of the car were on a pilgrim tour and were on way to Kukke Subrahmanya shrine from Dharmasthala when tragedy struck.

The impact of the mishap was such that the car was badly mangled. The injured have been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

Incidentally the spot where this accident took place was dug up for construction of a drain. However the work is left incomplete. In another mishap here a few days ago, a bike rider was critically injured.
