1 Killed, another injured in a brutal attack by a gang in Bantwal

Bantwal: August 7, 2015: In a tragic incident, a group of 4 members allegedly assaulted two youths with lethal weapons near Bantwal taluk on Thursday night.

 

 

 

 

 

The youths who were assaulted have been identified as Nasir (27) and Mohammed Mustafa.

The incident occurred on August 6 night when Nasir and Mustafa were going towards Sajipa village in an Auto Rickshaw. When they were near Melkar, a group of four persons who came in motorbike, asked the rickshaw driver to stop the vehicle under the pretext of asking the direction to Kukkaje.

One of the youth took out a weapon and allegedly assaulted Mustafa. When Nasir screamed out in fear, he too was assaulted with the weapon. Locals who saw both in critical condition rushed them to a hospital in Thumbay. Later, they were shifted to Unity Hospital, Mangalore.

On Friday, Nasir did not respond to the treatment and breathed his last. The body was shifter to AJ Hospital for Post Mortem and was then handed over to the family members.

It is learnt that Nasir’s wife was pregnant and had a young daughter. The police have taken up the investigation. More details awaited.
