’Stealing a bus’ in city, youth arrested

Udupi, Oct 07, 2019: A 20-year-old youth was arrested at Santhekatte in Udupi for stealing a bus. The arrested is Mohammed Nifaz, a resident of Ullal, who used a duplicate key and drove the bus to Udupi.

The A R Travels bus (number 44), which travels from the State Bank bus terminus to Ullal, is owned by Abbas Ali of Ullal. After cleaning the bus for Ayudha Puja, the driver had parked it at Kotepura in Ullal on October 5, Saturday night. When the cleaner arrived on October 6, Sunday morning, the bus was missing.

Abbas then filed a complaint with Ullal Police. After a few hours, Abbas’ friend informed him of the bus travelling towards Udupi.

Later, a complaint was filed with Udupi police, who swung into action and intercepted the bus at Santhekatte and arrested the man. Investigations are yet to be completed.
