Manipal, Oct 24, 2015: M.V. Kamath Bibliography was inaugurated at the SOC - School of Communication, Manipal University, Oct 23. The section, opened in the memory of the veteran journalist who passed away a year ago, contains a large number of books, which he had in his collection.
The Bibliography has been opened in a section of the library of the SOC. What makes this section more attractive, besides the books which cover a variety of topics from history to politics and philosophy to religion, is that it is also open to people of Udupi and Manipal to read. These books will not be lent out of the library..
Inaugurating this section, Vice Chancellor of Manipal University H. Vinod Bhat said the wide range of books were a testimony to Kamath’s scholastic qualities, erudition and knowledge. Kamath had served as a member on the Board of Manipal University since 1993.
He was responsible for starting the Manipal Institute of Communication, which has since been renamed as School of Communication. He also served as its honorary director for several years. “Kamath was a man of wit and wisdom,” he said. In her introductory remarks, Nandini Lakshmikantha, Director of School of Communication, said that it was the desire of M.V. Kamath that people should read from collection of his books. “There are still more books to be shifted from Kamath’s collection and we will do it gradually,” she added.
