Udupi, Nov 06, 2014: Addressing media on November 5, Wednesday, Vidyavallabha Tirtha Swami of Kaniyur Math staed taht the Kanaka Sadbhavana Jyoti Ratha Yatra, which began from Bada-Kaginele, will be given a rousing welcome at its culmination in Udupi on November 8. The culmination of the yatra will coincide with the 527th Kanakadasa Jayanti celebrations.
All preparations to welcome the Yatra were in the final stages. The objective of the Sri Kanakadasa Yatra is to create awareness among people in the State about the life, compositions and achievements of saint-composer Sri Kanakadasa.
The yatra will reach Jodu Katte here at 10 a.m. after passing through many districts in the State and a grand process will well receive it. Cultural troupes, tableaux and bhajan teams will participate in the procession, which will culminate at Car Street at around noon. A “maha mangalarti” to the idol of Sri Kankadasa will be performed at the Kankadasa Mandira. Later, a public function would be held at Rajangana here at 12.15 p.m.
Nearly 10,000 persons are expected to the valedictory function of the yatra and the Kanakadasa Jayanti function at Rajangana. There will be lectures on the life, compositions and teachings of Sri. Kanakadasa by scholars on the occasion.
Yogeshwarananda Swami, president of Ramakrishna Yogashrama, Ramohalli, Shivananda Puri Swami of K.R. Nagar, Vinay Kumar Sorake, Urban Development Minister, Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA, P. Yuvaraj, president of Udupi City Municipal Council, will take part in the valedictory function.
