’Janapadotsava’ enthusiastic Tulu folk games near mulki

Mulki, June 27, 2019: There was enthusiastic participation in Tulunada Krishi Ja, held in front of Sri Jnanashakthi Subrahmanya Swamy temple, at Pavanje, near Mulki. It was a day filled with sporting fun and frolic at a marshy field here.



Children, adults and even the aged did not mind falling in the slush paddy fields while taking part in various folk games. The spectators were seen cheering each participant. Over 400 people took part in various competitions. Around 30 teams took part in the tug-of-war held in a slush field.

A running race, race for women carrying water pots, decorated coconut fronds and folk dance competitions were held. Formation of a human pyramid by youth in the slush field was an added attraction.

As the paddy fields were close to the national highway many were seen parking their vehicles and watching the event.
