’Gram Snehi’ expansion recommended by DK ZP President

Mangalore, July 18, 2014:  Presiding over the KDP meeting held in the Zilla Panchayat office on July 17,  Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat President Asha Thimmappa Gowda has directed the district-level officials to commit towards the effective implementation of ‘Grama Snehi’ programme introduced in the constituencies of Zilla Panchayat members, enabling  voicing of citizens’ grievances at village-level.

zp president Asha Thimmappa GowdaZP chief said that the first Gram Snehi programme held recently was  a success and the second programme will be held on August 5. “The programmes hold are of importance as the pleas of the people are received directly and the district-level officers will act as the nodal interface towards problem solving, ” she said.

Asha Thimmappa Gowda further stated that though extended to the cooperative societies in the urban areas, a considerably high premium amount is fixed and directed the officials concerned to apply the same premium amount to fishermen as of farmers. In the wake of complaints on the sale of rice meant to be distributed under Anna Bhagya in private shops, she instructed the food department officials to carryout inspections in this regard. Pressing on the appointment of doctors under National Rural Health Campaign, Asha Thimmappa Gowda sought the taluk wise details of the candidates registered in the department of Employment and Training.

She asked the PWD official to take steps to repair Panja Kadaba road immediately. Zilla Panchayat Vice President Sathish Kumpala said the beneficiaries for the welfare programmes of backward castes were eligeble along with  minorities and SC/STs. He meanwhile directed the officials concerned to draw a list of works under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna to be taken up in the next years. ZP Chief Executive Officer Thulasi Maddineni said that the Gram Panchayats have been overburdened with the work on the distribution of ration cards, which is hindering the GPs in implementing other programmes. She directed the officials to bring out a gazette notification on the borewells to be dug under drinking water projects in the district. ZP Standing committee Presidents Phakir, Jayashri were present.
