"Walk ‘n’ Jog" health awareness at Kallianpur

Udupi, Oct 4, 2015 : At least 250 enthusiasts of all ages took part in the health awareness "Walk ‘n’ Jog" programme organized on October 2 at Mount Rosary Church, Kallianpur.  The event was jointly organized by Mount Rosary Catholic Stree Sanghatan, Rotary Club Manipal Town, Rotary Club Kallianpur and ICYM Youth Club Mount Rosary. The participants covered a distance of more than five kilometres between the Church and Survarna River.

Parish Priest, Rev. Philip Neri Aranha flagged off the event. Rotary district assistance governor Rtn. PHF Alan  Lewis congratulated all the organizations for taking such a valuable initiative. Chief guests Dr Vinod Nayak (Secretary, Sports Council, Manipal University) and Dr Kiran Shetty (Department of Cardiology Manipal University) spoke on the importance of routine jogging and walking for good health.

President of RC Kallianpur Rtn. Prashant Shetty welcomed the gathering, president of RC Manipal Town Rtn. Dr PHF Sesappa A Rai gave the vote of thanks and president of ICYM Werhner was the Master of Ceremony. Rtn Hilda Lewis was the coordinator of the event.

Shridhar – Sports Director Manipal University, Aerobics instructor Mamatha Shetty and Yoga master Prajwal guided the participants in practicing in regular exercises. Assistant Parish Priest Mahesh, GSR Rtn. KS Jai Vittal, Secretary of RC Manipal Town Rtn. Raghavendra G, Stree Sanghatan president Jyothi Lewis and members of all organizing clubs participated. Ujwal Developers Udupi and Aqa Ice Burg sponsored  t-shirts for all the participants.
