’Padma Shri’ for Harekala - DC to recommend

Mangalore, June 28, 2014: “At a time when education is commercialised, an uneducated poor man like Harekala Hajabba’s commitment to education is unique. We can achieve a revolution in the field of education, if we get one Hajabba in every village,” said Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim.

 

Speaking after releasing the third edition of ‘Aparoopada Samajasevaka Harekala Hajabba’, by Ismath Pajeer and published by Talent Research Foundation here, June 27, DC A B Ibrahim said, “I was thrilled to read about Hajabba, when he won ‘person of the year’ award. The book on Hajabba should reach more number of people,” “At a time when education is commercialised, an uneducated poor man like Harekala Hajabba’s commitment to education is unique. We can achieve a revolution in the field of education, if we get one Hajabba in every village,” . Meanwhile, DC promised to recommend Hajabba for the prestigious ‘ Padma Shri’ award. The DC handed over a mobilephone set to Hajabba, which was sponsored by the Talent Research Foundation.

Educationist Krishna Shastri Balila said that Hajabba has a pure heart and mind to provide education to poor. “The prestigious institutions in the City do not have a playground which is must for the physical and mental growth of children. Many institutions are not willing to give 25 pc reservation for poor children under RTE Act. However, Hajabba wanted a spacious ground for his school.” Balila appealed to the DC to open a regional institute for English in the district to train the teachers. It would be an effective way to build the image of government schools. He asked Hajabba to introduce lessons on agriculture, self-employment and apiculture in his school.

“We don’t need financial experts, but we need people like Hajabba in every village,” he said. Krishna Shastri Balila handed over a book called ‘Magu Maneyinda Shalege’ to the school.

Hajabba said that he has requested the DC to sanction another building to start PU College in Harekala. Author Ismath Pajeer said that he received name and fame after he wrote on Harekala Hajabba.

Foundation President Abdul Rauf Puttige said that he would give all support to realise the dreams of Educationist Krishna Shastri Balila on Hajabba’s school.  Foundation member Rafeeq Master, Advisor Suleiman Sheik and others were present on the occasion. People admire the greatness.
