Mangalore, June 23, 2014: Western Range IGP Amrit Paul who addressed press persons at the SP office in the city on June 23, Monday has informed that the six persons arrested in connection with the murder of Naushad near Maripalla in Bantwal on June 21, Saturday have admitted their guilt and have also divulged during questioning that they eliminated Naushad fed up with his dictatorial attitude.
The IGP also gave the names of the accused as Irfan (24), Tausif (22), Mohammad Nisar (26), Mohammad Nisar (24), Abdul Sattar (27), and Mohammed Siraj (25). The IGP further said another person named Saddam also wanted in the case was absconding and a search for him was on. He said weapons and a car used for the crime have been seized from the six.
The IGP also revealed that the arrested told during interrogation that the slain Naushad wanted to be a don and pressurised them to call him ‘Bhai’ and even used to behave indecently with women.
Amrit Paul said the accused who were aware that Naushad would be going to Badugudde near Maripalla on Sunday rented a car and followed him and attacked him with a machete and sickle while he was talking to his relative Shameer.
The deceased Naushad was a rowdy sheeter and was an accused in 15 cases. He was acquitted in nine of the cases for want of evidences, the IGP informed.
When asked about the Rajesh Poojary murder case and the clamour that those arrested were innocents, the IGP said the police have conducted a thorough investigation which has brought to light the involvement of the arrested in the crime.
