Mangalore, April 26, 2014 : Mayor Mahabala Maarla has informed that the Mangalore City Corporation would soon be launching “Let’s Fight Malaria” an Awareness Campaign on Malaria and other vector borne diseases in the backdrop of the spurt in Malaria and dengue cases in the city and other places of the district.
Speaking to the media men here on April 25, Friday, the Mayor informed that the campaign with the tag line ‘Declaring War Against Malaria’ will be held in association with Centre for Integrated Learning (CIL), Mangalore.
Under the campaign as many as 20,000 students from nearly 50 schools in the city will be entrusted the responsibility of maintaining a record on the number of Malaria cases in their respective areas.
Among other programmes there will be lectures, training programmes, presentations, awareness through Yakshagana and theatrical presentations as well as a painting contest.
The Mayor informed that four teams having a total of 49 members are on a door-to-door survey on Malaria and also to create awareness on the disease, he said.
Kavitha, Deputy Mayor, Ajith Kumar, MCC Commissioner, Sachitha Nandagopal and Srinivasan Nandagopal, Directors of CIL were also present at the press meet.
