’Harassed’ by own son, 91 year old woman seeks justice

Udupi, April 19, 2016 : A 91 year old woman who is a mother of eight children including six daughters and two sons,  has  accused her elder son of  constantly torturing her and demanding  his share of the property.

Speaking to reporters  at Press Club here on April 18, Monday the woman named Savitri Bhat who presently resides with her younger son Krishna Bhat, alleged that her elder son Keshav Bhat  had not vacated her house  despite the orders from the Assistant Commissioner two years ago directing her son to vacate the house.  Savithri had even taken her complaint to the Human Rights Commission, said her younger son Krishna Bhat who was present at the press meet.

Both Savithri Bhat and Keshav Bhat resided in the same building. If Savitri Bhat resided on the ground floor, Keshav Bhat and his family stayed on the first floor.

It  is said the 35 cents land which Savithri  Bhat owned has been legally divided into nine parts - for her eight children and herself and that still Keshav Bhat  was torturing his mother and was ill-treating her for the sake of financial gains.

Savithri Bhat said though the house had three door numbers only one has been registered  and requested the  authorities to register the other two numbers too.

Her humble appeal to the authorities was  to  ensure that her son vacated the house so that she could live in peace. She has also sought the intervention of the SP in this regard.
