Mangaluru, May 02, 2016: " Education should help in development of skills and should not be restricted merely to securing degrees," said Dr Vasanth Kumar Perla, Director of Akashavani, Mangaluru and noted writer.
He was presiding over the valedictory of ’Pratibha Sangama 2016" a summer camp for children organised by Ranga Swaroopa at the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Model Higher Primary School at Marakada.
Continuing, he said summer camps go a long way in development of essential skills in children.
Moidin Bava, MLA of Mangaluru North, who was present as a chief guest appreciated the activities undertaken by Ranga Swaroopa since the past 14 years in shaping the future of children.
On this occasion, Ranga Swaroopa Award 2016 was conferred on Narayan Salian in recognition of his outstanding services to the society. Young artiste Akshatha Kudla was also honoured.
K Harinath, Mayor of Mangaluru, K Mohammad, Corporator, Malathi, in-charge Headmistress of Marakada School and Premnath Marne, Honorary President of Ranga Swaroopa were present as chief guests.
Over 160 students benefitted from the four-day long camp. All participants were awarded certificates.
Participant children also presented cultural programmes on the occasion.
Subrahmanya Kasargod of Ranga Swaroopa, Rehman Kunjatbail, Convenor of the Camp and others were present.
