‘Desperate’ Yogish Bhat has hurled false allegations against me: JR Lobo

Mangalore Today News Network

JR Lobo MangaloreMangalore, April 18, 2013: JR Lobo, the Congress candidate from Mangalore South has described as baseless the allegation leveled against him by BJP candidate Yogish Bhat earlier in the day stating that he had attached a false affidavit while filing his nomination papers. Lobo has said Bhat had only tried to mislead the electorate by hurling false allegations against him.

Issuing a clarification on the issue, JR Lobo has said that as per the election regulations and rules only those candidates who have been charge sheeted in criminal cases will have to submit information in this regard in the affidavit while filing the nominations.

Lobo has clarified that no charge sheet has been filed against him until now by anyone and that there were no cases against him in any court of law or Lokayukta and that he was also not facing any criminal charge.

Lobo said as per the details mentioned in the xerox copy of the complaint, there is an allegation that he had flouted rules while serving as commissioner as MCC. However, the BJP candidate has not produced before the election officer the certified copy of the complaint, he said.

Lobo said he  was commissioner of the MCC only till 2003 and that  the documents  produced by the BJP candidate  mentions of a petition to the Lokayukta by a Bangalore man in 2008  regarding the  violation of rules when  he was the Commissioner. It seems that the document was still under review and therefore the question of mentioning such things in the affidavit does not arise, said Lobo.

He further said it was regretting to note that the BJP candidate’s ploy was to enjoy publicity after making false complaint with the Election Officer.

Lobo has also stated that the Election Officer has rejected the objection filed by the BJP candidate and has approved his nomination.  The voters were aware of the ploy of the BJP to project a lie as a truth by reiterating it over and again.
