Mangaluru, March 26, 2024: Dr. M. Mohan Alva, speaking at a special event honoring distinguished individuals from South Kanara, emphasized the significance of an adventurous and sporty disposition in achieving success in life. "Since childhood, I have embodied an adventurous and sporty spirit," remarked Dr. Alva, Chairman, Alva’s Education Trust, Mudabidri, on March 26, 2024, in Mangalore.

He underscored the pivotal role of education in nurturing the youth and society at large, advocating for hostel accommodations to foster holistic development among students. Drawing from his own experience of spending two decades in hostels during his student life, Dr. Alva stressed the importance of integrating sports and cultural activities with academics, a principle upheld by his educational institution.
Reflecting on contemporary challenges, Dr. Alva lamented the commercialization pervading sectors like healthcare and education. Despite facing financial hurdles, he remained undeterred in his pursuits, attributing his enduring enthusiasm for new endeavors even at 72 years of age.


Maintaining a steadfast commitment to staying informed, Dr. Alva revealed his habit of reading multiple newspapers daily while eschewing social media, which he believed could compromise sincerity. Additionally, he expressed a deliberate avoidance of political involvement, choosing instead to prioritize his dedication to education and community development.
Dr. Alva also touched upon changes in the Nudisiri cultural event, highlighting its transformation into a more purposeful gathering focused on literary enthusiasts. He assured the continuation of national cultural programs such as Virasat, emphasizing their importance in preserving cultural heritage.


The event, inaugurated by senior journalist, Mangalore Today Editor, V.U. George and presided over by Mangalore Press Club President P.B. Harish Rai, saw the participation of esteemed figures including D.K. District Working Journalists Association President Srinivasa Naik Indaje and Press Bhavan Trust President Ramakrishna. Ibrahim Adkasthala, General Secretary of the Press Club, extended gratitude, while RC Bhat served as the program’s compare.
