The victim, identified as Jasbir Singh, received a bullet injury on his left shoulder apart from a cut on his left ear and was admitted to the civic hospital where his condition is said to be stable.

Singh was on his way to Rewari before five youth asked him for a lift at the Hero Honda Chowk. Singh saw an opportunity to make some money and gave a lift to them, according to investigating officer Satpal Singh.

"When the truck reached the destination point at IMT Manesar Chowk, Singh asked the youth to pay the promised fare of Rs.20 per head. As soon as Singh asked for the fare, one of the youth pulled out a country-made pistol and allegedly fired at him. The accused had allegedly pointed the gun towards Singh’s head but the bullet hit his right shoulder as he ducked at the crucial moment, police said.

The victim claimed that the assailants tried to escape with his vehicle but were forced to leave as he offered resistance. The Gurgaon Police has registered an FIR against five unidentified persons under Section 307, 34 of the IPC and the Arms Act at the Manesar Police Station.
