Due to the heavy rainfall, the inflow of water to rivers Cauvery, Lakshmanatheerta, Barapole, Harangi, Chiklihole has increased. The water level at Triveni Sangama has also increased, with only four to five feet left before it overflows onto the bridge.

As a precautionary measure, the district administration has made arrangements for a boat to ferry villagers to safety. Madikeri, Bhagamandala, Shantalli, Virajpet, Srimangala and Somwarpet experienced good rainfall. Soil caved in at Chamundeshwari Nagara in Madikeri. However, no loss of life has been reported.

DK and Kodagu : Intermittent rain continued to lash across Dakshina Kannada district. The district has received an average of 19.7 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. Ginger crops have been affected with ‘gende kole’ disease. Arabica and Robusta coffee berries have started withering in Kottigehara, Banakal, Baloor, Binnadi, Devarundam Guthi, Bhairapura and Hoskere, following heavy rain.

According to reports,  KPCL Chief Engineer (Sharavathy Power House), said, “Unless the inflow of water rises to 50,000 cusecs, the water will not be released. The inflow of water is around 21,000 cusecs now as the catchment area of the dam is not receiving copious rain. So, we hope the inflow would increase in the coming days.” The water level in Bhadra dam reached the maximum level of 186 feet. The inflow of water was 10,389 cusecs and the same quantum of water was released from the dam.
