New Delhi, Nov 01, 2018 : Having campaigned for decades to see a temple built at the site of Lord Ram’s birth in Ayodhya, Union minister Uma Bharti is now calling on all political parties to help towards a speedy resolution to the dispute that has gone on for several decades.

Speaking to India Today TV exclusively at her New Delhi residence, Uma Bharti said, "If they tell me Ram Mandir will be built only over my dead body, then so be it."

The firebrand Hindutva leader is now calling for an out-of-court settlement in the matter, asking political parties to take the lead on behalf of the litigants.

"Rahul Gandhi, Mulayam Singh, Mamata Banerjee, Mayawati, the Left parties will have to support us but they aren’t letting the matter settle... The Congress will have to leave the habit of dividing the country in the name of religion," Bharti said.

She called on Congress chief Rahul Gandhi to join her in laying the foundation stone for the Ram temple in Ayodhya and "atone for the sins committed by his party".

Bharti also made it clear that those demanding a mosque in the outer periphery of the disputed site in Ayodhya are playing with fire.
