New Delhi, Jan 02, 2018 : The Donald Trump administration may propose a legislation that will show  the door to thousands of Indians waiting for their green card approval in the United States. If the decision is taken in this regard, thousands of Indian workers, who are waiting for their green card applications to be approved, will be deported. The number of Indian workers who could be sent to India is estimated to be between 50,000 to 75,000.

The Donald Trump administration is mulling to impose restriction on the number of immigrants entering the country for jobs in sync with Trump’s policy of building America with American hands. The US government has already proposed a bill to nearly double the minimum salary required for H-1B application. This move directly impacts India as Indian IT industry sends a large number of professionals. The success of Indian IT industry in the US depends on Indian employees working there on projects. The bill also puts the responsibility on the employer to prove that the employment of a foreign worker has not snatched an opportunity from a US citizen.

The United States issues 85,000 visas every year– 65,000 are for jobs. Nearly 70 per cent visas are lapped up by Indians, mostly IT professionals.
