Trainee IAS Officer’s Body Found In Pool At Delhi Academy

New Delhi, May 30, 2017:  A trainee Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer was found dead in a swimming pool of a club in south Delhi last night. The police are investigating the death, which was reported in the early hours today.

Ashish Dahiya, 30, was at a party with his friends from the civil services last evening at the Foreign Club Institute in Ber Sarai. The police say according to his colleagues, they decided to go for a swim in the club’s pool.

Witnesses have said that a woman officer slipped into the pool and many, including Ashish Dahiya, jumped in to save her.

She was pulled out safely but the officers realized that Mr Dahiya was missing. Soon, he was seen floating.

He was pulled out and a medical officer, Pramyesh Basall, was called.
There were attempts at reviving him with CPR before he was taken to hospital, where he was declared dead around 1 am.

Mr Dahiya’s family lives in Haryana.

A team of senior police officers is at the club to collect evidence and record statements.
