Sushant’s former talent manager Jaya Saha quizzed by NCB

Mumbai, Sep 21, 2020: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), which is probing the drugs angle in Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, has summoned the actor’s ex-manager Shruti Modi on Tuesday along with his former talent manager Jaya Saha who was questioned on Monday as well.

The central agency quizzed Saha for around four hours at the Bombay Port Trust (BPT) guest house in South Mumbai. She reached the guest house around 2 pm and left around at 6:15 pm in the evening, NCB deputy director KPS Malhotra said.

The NCB had earlier summoned Saha and Modi to appear on September 16 but their questioning was postponed after one of the members of the investigating team tested positive for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Bollywood actors Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh and designer Simone Khambatta will also be called to join the NCP probe this week, Malhotra had said earlier in the day.

The actors will be summoned under Section 67 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, after they were named by Rhea Chakraborty while she was being interrogated between September 6 and September 9 before being arrested, NCB officials said.

The agency had earlier confirmed that Chakraborty had named the three in her statement but the context in which their names were taken is not clear yet. “Their roles can’t be given right now,” Malhotra said. Chakraborty, however, had later retracted her statement.

The agency has so far arrested 18 people, including Rajput’s girlfriend actor Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, and drug peddlers from Mumbai and Goa.

Meanwhile, the Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) have also launched investigations over different angles associated with Rajput’s death on June 14.
