Six of family drown while taking bath in Saryu river in Ayodhya, three still missing

Ayodhya, Jul 09, 2021: Twelve members of a family were swept away by the strong currents while taking a bath in the Saryu river in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya. While six bodies were pulled out, three others of the same family were rescued. Three more family members are still missing.

The incident took place when 12 members of the family were taking bath at the Guptar ghat in Ayodhya.

Three people who have been rescued have been rushed to the local hospital, while police and local divers are carrying on the search and rescue operation for the missing people.

The family of 15 hails from Agra and was visiting Ayodhya when this incident took place.

Some members were washing their hands and feet while others were taking a bath in the river when they started to drown due to high current in the water body. Other members tried to help and rescue them but were caught in the current as well, as per sources.

Anuj kumar Jha, District Magistrate of Ayodhya, said that rescue operations for others are still on.
