Singer Mika arrested for slapping a doctor during Delhi concert

June 11, 2015: Bollywood singer Mika was on Thursday arrested by the Delhi Police for slapping a Delhi-based doctor at a concert in April in the national capital.

 

On April 13, the police had booked the singer for the incident at a live concert organised by the Delhi Ophthalmological Society (DOS) in south-west Delhi. A case of causing hurt and wrongful restraint was registered against the singer at Inderpuri police station.

The victim Shrikant, an ophthalmologist posted at Ambedkar Hospital in Delhi, had allegedly suffered some internal injury inside his left ear due to the assault.

"While performing, Mika had called some of the audience on stage for an activity. During the activity, something done by the doctor irked Mika who then slapped him and handed him to the bouncers," a police official had said.

Soon after the incident, the doctor’s colleagues created a ruckus at the venue but police immediately intervened and promised action against Mika following which an FIR was filed against the singer.
