Siddaramaiah lambastes Shah for questioning state finances

Mysuru, Jan 11, 2018 : "Who is Amit Shah to question our state finances? When Manmohan Singh was PM, did the Gujarat government give accounts of its finances to the Centre? What do they know of our finances?" hit out Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

 

He was retorting to BJP National President Amit Shah’s allegations that the ruling Congress in Karnataka had ’eaten away’ the Rs 2,19,506 crore released by the Centre.

Shah had made this allegation at the BJP Parivatana rally in Chitradurga on Wednesday.

"The Centre has merely sanctioned us funds from the tax we have collected. That too, Rs 11,000 crore less than the tax remitted. I have placed this before the people in the Legislature as well," the CM remarked.

The CM accused the Centre of discriminating against Karnataka in allocation of drought relief also. While Gujrat and Maharashtra have received Rs 3,000 crore, Karnataka has received only 1,500 crore, he said.

The Centre has released funds to the state for Ujjwala LPG, Mudra, Swachch Bharat Abhiyan and other schemes under the 14th Finance Commission outlay.
