Bengaluru, Jan 26, 2018 : BJP national president Amit Shah on Thursday launched an attack on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Mysuru.

Speaking on Siddaramaiah’s home turf during the Nava Karnataka Parivarthana Nirmana Yatra, Shah accused the chief minister of trying to scuttle the party’s rally by "sponsoring" the Karnataka bandh on the Mahadayi issue.

"The government has made every effort to scuttle today’s rally deliberately by sponsoring a state-wide bandh. The Congress has continued with its Emergency mindset. But people have seen through the game plan.", he said.

"You (people) have slapped Siddaramaiah on his face by making the yatra successful," Shah stated in his characteristic style of involving the crowd, at the conclusion of the yatra.

Initially, the BJP leaders were apprehensive about the attendance at the rally as it coincided with the bandh call, but to their relief, there was a good turnout.

Shah threw a challenge at Siddaramaiah stating that come what may, he cannot stop the BJP from coming to power.

"The government is now trying to derail BJP’s February 4 rally in Bengaluru to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by sponsoring another bandh, but I am sure people will turn up in record numbers and make the rally a tremendous success," Shah said.

However, while Shah tore the government apart on the bandh call, he made no reference to the Mahadayi issue.

Shah took on the Siddaramaiah government largely on the issues of corruption and Hindutva, toeing the same line he had done in his previous two addresses during the course of the yatra - the inaugural one in Bengaluru and later at Holalkere in Chitradurga.

"The state has witnessed several prominent personalities who have contributed to its progress and development. But Siddaramaiah and (Congress) president Rahul Gandhi are only interested in celebrating Tipu Jayanthi," Shah said and charged the Congress with resorting to vote-bank politics.

He said that as many as 20 RSS and BJP workers have been killed during the past three years but the government had not even launched an investigation.

All cases booked against SDPI members were withdrawn. The Congress should explain the reason for this, he said, adding that the BJP will hunt down the culprits the moment it comes to power in the state.

Shah also listed out scams and controversies involving Siddaramaiah, including the one involving the diamond-studded Hublot watch, Arkavathy Layout land denotification case, the Bengaluru steel flyover row and irregularities in the Anna Bhagya scheme.

BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa accused the state government of securing a 25% commission while sanctioning projects.

Yeddyurappa said he has noted the problems faced by the people during his 85-day yatra and they will be addressed if the BJP is voted to power.
