Ravi Belagere shifted to Parappanahara central jail

Bengaluru, Dec 12, 2017 : Tabloid editor Ravi Belagere has been shifted to the Parappanahara Bengaluru central jail by the City Crime Branch (CCB) police and lodged in the infirmary inside the jail.

Jail staff confirmed that Belagere’s admission to prison has been entered in the jail register.

Belagere who is accused of giving a supari to kill a colleague Sunil Heggaravalli was remanded to judicial custody till December 23 by the 1st ACMM court here on Monday, after subjecting him to a medical check-up conducted by doctors of Victoria Hospital.

Meanwhile CCB and jail authorities met on Monday night to decide on what precautions to take while the tabloid editor is in judicial custody, in prison.

Police said Belagere’s advocate had not filed a bail application before the court, but only presented arguments and requested medical care while in judicial custody in the jail. The government advocate who appeared on behalf of the CCB police has submitted a five page charge sheet opposing the bail plea.

Belagere’ son Karna and daughter Chethana were seen waiting outside the central jail.
