Punjab: 20 year old’s body found with leg missing, 6 booked for murder

Punjab, Oct 12, 2016: The body of a 20-year-old Dalit youth, allegedly abducted and killed by a rival group of liquor smugglers, with one of his legs chopped off was found in Mansa late on Monday evening. Six people have been charged with his murder.

Punjab According to reports in NDTV, the youth, Sukhchain Singh Pali, was involved in liquor smuggling, allegedly in conflict with a group of upper-caste landlords, also involved in liquor smuggling.

The family has refused to cremate the body until the lost limb was recovered and all the accused arrested.

Police have registered a case a case of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Balbir Singh, Hardeep Singh, Amandeep Singh, Sadhu Singh, Babrik Singh and Sita Singh.

Last year, another Dalit man Bhim Tank, and his associate, Gurjant Singh, were attacked with sharp-edged weapons at Akali leader and liquor baron Shiv Lal Doda’s farmhouse in Abohar, Fazilka. Tank later died at a hospital in Amritsar.
