Srinagar, Sep 20, 2019 : In an aggressive move, Pakistan constructed a military airfield in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir’s Manshera, which is 150 km from Srinagar. Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) new airfield is located along the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border. It is also within 250 km from Jammu. In addition to this, the PAF has an advanced landing ground (ALG) in Muzaffarabad. This ALG is 50 km from Manshera, Yahoo reported.
According to a report published in Times Now, the Pakistan government allocated 1,600 million Pakistani rupees for the project. The new airfield is only 20 km from Abbottabad, the place where US Navy seals killed Osama Bin Laden. Pakistan Lie Exposed Again! French Ambassador to India Refutes Media Reports Claiming PAF Pilots Trained on Rafale Jets as ’Fake’.
The airfield will give an edge to the PAF over the Indian Air Force as Pakistan fighter jets will get more time to drop bombs over targets in Indian Territory. However, being close to the Line of Control (LoC) will make it easier for India to target Pakistan’s airfield in Manshera with standoff weapons.
Meanwhile, Pakistan could not garner support for its resolution on the Kashmir issue at the ongoing United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC). Pakistan failed to get the support of minimum 16 nations on board to get its petition on Kashmir issue accepted by the United Nations. The last day to file a request for a resolution during the 42nd UNHRC session was on September 19. The relations between India and Pakistan hit rock bottom after the Narendra Modi government diluted Article 370 to scrap the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
