Mumbai man pours petrol on woman, sets her ablaze, dies as she holds on to him

Mumbai, Feb 08, 2021:     A man’s attempt to kill a woman by setting her ablaze backfired after the latter held on to him, resulting in his death. While the man died, the woman is battling for her life at a hospital in Mumbai.

 

The shocking incident took place in Mumbai’s Meghwadi area. The cops have registered a case against Vijay Khambe, who is now dead, while the woman is being treated for her injuries at a Mumbai hospital.

The doctors have told the police that her condition is extremely critical.

A senior police officer said, "We have registered a case against deceased Vijay based on the complaint by the brother of the woman. Further investigations are on. Many details need to be investigated in the matter."

WHAT HAPPENED IN MEGHWADI?

The police officials said the incident took place in Gandhi Nagar area of Jogeshwari east of Mumbai on February 6 (Saturday). Vijay and the woman knew each other for over two and a half years.

Vijay wanted to marry the woman but her family refused the proposal. Police said Vijay started to harass the woman.

On Febrary 6, the woman was alone at her house. Vijay, aware that the woman was alone, bought a bottle of petrol, poured it on her and set her on fire. The woman, however, caught hold of Vijay and held on to him.

The neighbours doused the fire and took both of them to the hospital. While Vijay succumbed to his injuries, the woman is battling for her life.
