Depending on the availability of domestic workers, training would be given for 30 hours with a honorarium of ₹ 2700. It was also decided to set up a Karnataka Domestic Welfare Board for safeguarding the interests of domestic workers.

Training would be provided for up-scaling skills of workers, enhancing skills in housekeeping, awareness about work safety, and social security schemes such as provident fund, ESI, said Muralidhar Halappa, Chairman, Karnataka Skill Development Corporation. During the training, workers would be introduced to new technologies in the housekeeping in offices, banking institutions, and business and commercial establishments.

All those who undergo training would be given medical fitness certificates by the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation. Certificates would help workers to get employment abroad, particularly in the Gulf, said Mr. Halappa.

In this regard a workshop aided by the United Nations Development Programme was conducted in the City to identify institutions for providing training. Industrial bodies such as FKCCI, KASSIA, AWAKE, and government owned institutions have come forward to provide training in Bengaluru and various districts.
