India logs 35,662 fresh Covid-19 cases on day of record vaccinations

New Delhi, Sep 18, 2021: India reported 35,662 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, with 281 people succumbing to the infection in the last 24 hours, according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry.

 

Total recoveries were at 3,26,32,222 across the country, while active cases stood at 3,40,639. In the last 24 hours, active cases increased by 1,583.

Among all the states, Kerala reported the highest Covid-19 cases at 23,260, followed by Maharashtra with 3,586 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,669 cases, Mizoram with 1,476 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 1,393 cases.These five states accounted for 88.01 per cent of the daily new cases reported on Sunday, with Kerala alone responsible for 65.22 per cent of the fresh infections.On Saturday, 281 Covid-related fatalities were recorded. Maximum casualties were reported in Kerala (131), followed by Maharashtra with 67 deaths in the last 24 hours.A total of 33,798 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. The recovery rate further increased to 97.65 per cent.

India conducted 14,48,833 tests during the previous day, according to the Health Ministry data.

A total of 2,15,98,046 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 79,42,87,699.

India has been able to vaccinate 63.1 per cent of its adult population with at least one dose, and at the same time, 20.9 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated.
