Mangalore Today News Network

Bengaluru/ Dharwad, Apr 12, 2016, DHNS: The Department of Pre-University Education claims to have put in place a foolproof system to ensure that question paper of the II PU chemistry re-examination, scheduled for April 12, is not leaked again.

chemistryOn the eve of the Tuesday’s exam, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmane Ratnakar told DH in Bengaluru that the department has readied 12 different sets of question papers.

For the first time, question papers were dispatched to exam centres across the state from the Dharwad District Treasury on Monday. Ratnakar said the papers would reach the centres only about an hour before the exam commences.

The minister said: “Earlier, it was being sent from the peripheral treasuries. This time, papers were directly sent to the district treasuries. Based on the distance from these treasuries to the exam centres, the transportation would start on Tuesday (sic). As the exam starts at 9 am, the papers would reach centres between 8 am and 8.30am.”

Since Sunday, when the question papers were brought from Nashik in Maharashtra, high security was in place around the District Treasury in Dharwad. The deputy commissioner, top officials from the education department and senior police officers kept a strict vigil during unloading and reloading of papers.

At 6.30 am on Monday, the question papers were removed from the strong room and loaded into 30 trucks and vans bound for other districts.

Ratnakar said jurisdictional assistant commissioners and tahsildars have been entrusted with the responsibility for ensuring strict security.

Besides, CCTV cameras have been installed at the district treasuries, the minister added.
