Hyderabad RJ commits suicide, husband, An Army Major booked

Hyderabad, Apr 25, 2017 : An Army officer’s wife who has been working as a Radio jokey with Radio Charminar FM station here allegedly committed unable to bear harassment for dowry by her husband and his family. The incident which occurred at their Army residence in Bollarum a week ago came to light with the kin of the RJ arrived from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh making a compliant with the North Zone Police.

 

According to her colleagues, Sandhya Singh (28) hung herself to death last Monday after returning from office in a state of depression. However she successfully organized a Sufi Night for the FM radio on Sunday. “Before leaving office she said that she was fed up with her life,” said Abdul Samad, a member of the Radio Charminar staff. He further said they grew suspicious as she did not attend her duties on Tuesday.

The radio staff came to know about Sandhya’s death only after her sister Ramya Singh filed a complaint against Sandhya’s husband major Vishal Vaibhav of 54th Infantry for harassing her sister and forcing her to commit suicide. Following the complaint the police booked a case against the Army major under Section 304B for dowry death.

Sandhya and Vishal were in love and got married in 2015. While Vishal has not taken a dowry he started pestering her for huge dowry. As their residence is located inside a cantonment the police came to know about the case after 5 days and when they went to question the Major, he ran away and got himself admitted in Military hospital complaining chest pain.

North Zone DCP Sumathi said that the army has assured that the accused will be handed over to the civil police after medical tests.
