New Delhi, Oct 12, 2021: With the daily count of Covid-19 cases falling in the country, the Ministry of Civil Aviation on Tuesday permitted to restore the scheduled domestic air operations from October 18, without any capacity restriction.

Currently, the cap on domestic flight capacity is at 85 per cent.

An order from the Civil Aviation Ministry stated that "after review of the current status of Scheduled Domestic Operations viz-a-viz passenger demand for air travel", the ministry has "decided to restore all scheduled domestic operations with effect from 18-10-2021 without any capacity restriction".

"The airlines/airport operators shall, however, ensure that the guidelines to contain the spread of Covid are strictly adhered to and Covid appropriate behaviour is strictly enforced by them during the travel," the statement added.

Between July 5 and August 12, the cap stood at 65 per cent. Between June 1 and July 5, the cap was at 50 per cent.

The cap was gradually increased to 80 per cent by December 2020, which continued till June 1 this year before it was curtailed in view of the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic.
