EC raids AAP candidate Naresh Balyan’s residence

New Delhi, Jan 31, 2015: The Election Commission officials raided the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Naresh Balyan in the national capital and recovered thousands of liquor bottles, as per news reports on Saturday.
The EC team recovered over 5,000 liquor bottles from Balyan’s residence and an FIR has been lodged against him for violating Model Code of Conduct.
Balyan is a member of AAP and is contesting upcoming Delhi Assembly polls from Uttam Nagar.
Meanwhile, Balyan has claimed that the liquor seized by EC belongs is the property of a BJP worker.
“I have no links with the liquor that was recovered from my house. It belongs to a BJP worker from our village and was confiscated from him,” Balyan told ANI.
The EC’s raid comes ahead of Assembly polls to be held in the national capital on February 7.
