Did you get Rs 15 lakh in your accounts as promised? Priyanka Gandhi tears into BJP’s promise

Mar 29, 2019: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not fulfilling his 2014 poll promise of depositing Rs 15 lakh in the bank accounts of people.

 

Priyanka, who was addressing a rally in Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh in her campaign for next month’s national election, said the government has attacked the Constitution, democracy and all institutions.

She added that the biggest political power is the power to listen to people. “If a politician can’t hear the people then that person is weak...the real truth of the nation lies in the villages,” she said. "I was stunned to hear from people in Varanasi that in five years, the PM didn’t get time to go to a single village, visit even one family in his constituency," Priyanka said, attacking the Prime Minister.

Speaking about the NYAY scheme, Priyanka said the BJP called it a poll gimmick when it was announced as it could waive off loans for industrialists but “they don’t have money for the poor”.

She called the BJP-led government "janata-virodhi (anti-people) and kisan-virodhi (anti-farmer)" and said it was time for voters to think who they wanted to vote for.

Priyanka is visiting Ayodhya and Faizabad on the last day of her three-day campaign which began with a tour of Amethi and Raebareli, the constituencies of her brother Rahul Gandhi and mother Sonia Gandhi.
