Delhi:17-year-old stones father to death to save mother

Mar 31, 2016: Delhi Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy who allegedly stoned his father to death, to stop him from assaulting his mother, in outer Delhi’s Samaypur Badli. Investigation has revealed that the boy killed his father and dumped the body in a vacant plot, some 50 metres from their house, police said.

The teenager was arrested after police recovered the body. He was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to a correctional home. Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer district) Vikramjit Singh said the boy killed his father because he was assaulting his mother.

Sources said the victim was identified as Surendra Kumar (40), who used to work as a plumber.

“The incident took place Monday afternoon, when Kumar came home in an inebriated condition. After a heated argument, he started abusing his wife. The teenager tried to stop his father,” said a police officer. “The fight escalated… when the boy’s mother started screaming for help, he rushed to her rescue. He hit his father with stones and the victim bled to death,” said the officer, adding that Kumar died on the spot.

After the incident, the teenager hid the body inside the house and later took it to a nearby vacant plot. “The locals informed the police about a foul smell coming from the vacant plot,” said the officer.

After registering a case of murder, police found that Kumar had been missing since Monday afternoon.

“During questioning, the juvenile broke down, after which he was arrested. Police have also recovered blood-stained clothes and stones from the spot,” the officer said.
