Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi meets PM Modi, Sushma Swaraj; key issues discussed

New Delhi, Aug 13, 2016: A day after concluding his day-long visit to Goa, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Saturday met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj in the national capital today.

"A morning for neighbourly engagement. Chinese FM Wang Yi calls on Prime Minister Narendra Modi," External Affairs Ministry Spokesman Vikas Swarup posted on Twitter.


Yi also held bilateral consultations with the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj later in the afternoon today.

Wang’s visit to India is part of the regular high-level dialogue between the two countries.

Both the foreign ministers have been meeting regularly on the margins of multilateral meetings.

During their meeting, the two sides discussed various issues of mutual interests including the upcoming multilateral meetings including G-20 Summit being held in China and BRICS Summit being held in India.

Wang had visited Goa on Friday to review logistical and security arrangements in the state which is hosting the upcoming BRICS summit which Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to attend.
