Celebratory firing kills pregnant dancer

Chandigarh, December 5, 2016, DHNS: A 25-year-old dancer with an orchestra troop died after she was hit by a bullet fired from close range by a man, reportedly in an inebriated state, during a wedding function in Bathinda in Punjab on Saturday night.

Reports said that the deceased, Kulwant Kaur, was pregnant. Kulwant was dancing along with three other women performers on stage when the drunk man, identified as Billa, opened fire. The bullet hit Kulwant in the head. She fell instantly on the stage and died on the spot.

The incident was caught on camera. The accused, who fled the scene, was carrying a gun. The police have registered a case of murder against the accused. Totally, four people have been booked in the case.  The weapon was recovered from the scene of crime.

The police said teams have been dispatched to arrest the accused. The orchestra team reportedly created ruckus after the death of the woman. The wedding ceremony was concluded in a hurry after the tragic incident, sources said.
