CAA protests Updates: Delhi police entered the campus of Jamia Millia University on Sunday evening and nabbed "outsiders" indulging in violent protests against Citizenship Act. They resorted to tear gas shelling and lathicharge inside the campus after tensions erupted in Sarai Juleina and Mathura Road earlier in the day. Two buses were allegedly set on fire after which four fire engines were pressed to service to douse the flames.

According to Delhi Fire Service, students of Jamia Millia Islamia University blocked the way of one of the fire tenders and damaged it. Two firemen were also injured in the violence, they said. Delhi Traffic Police said in a tweet that the vehicle movement was closed from Okhla Underpass to Sarita Vihar due to the agitation. Vehicles coming from Badarpur and Ashram Chowk were diverted to alternative routes due to the blockade.

However, students and alumni of Jamia Millia Islamia denied any involvement in the violence that rocked South Delhi on Sunday. The Jamia Millia Islamia University Committee in a statement said, "We have time and again maintained that our protests are peaceful and non-violent. We stand by this approach and condemn any party involved in the violence," They claimed that "violence by certain elements is an attempt to vilify and discredit genuine protests".
