New Delhi, Oct 26, 2017: A Times Now-VMR survey of voters in Gujarat has predicted a comfortable victory for the BJP in the state, with Congress and other parties trailing the saffron party by around 15 per cent of the vote.

In the high stakes election in Gujarat, BJP is likely to fetch 118-134 seats, with Congress bagging anywhere between 49-61 seats.

Gujarath poll survey

The ruling BJP is predicted to get 52 per cent of votes against 37 per cent for Congress, with others finishing with 11 per cent of the vote share. The forecast sees BJP bettering its performance by 4 per cent as compared to the 2012 assembly polls, when it secured 48 per cent of votes. There is no noticeable change in seat share projections for Congress in 2017.

Gujarat’s support for PM Modi remains undiminished, with 81 per cent of the respondents saying they’ll continue to vote for the BJP, the survey said.

However, there is a noticeable drop in the BJP’s projected performance, when compared to its performance in the 2014 General Assembly elections. There is a noticeable drop in its vote share as well, from 60 per cent in 2014 to 52 per cent in 2017.

Earlier in the day, the Election Commission announced the dates for assembly election in Gujarat. The polling for the two-phase elections will take place on December 9 and 14, and votes will be counted on December 18.
