Atreyee went missing on 4 April, the day she arrived in Bengaluru from Toronto. She is currently pursuing a post doctoral fellowship in Toronto.

Marthahalli police officials, who are investigating the disappearance of Atreyee, confirmed that she stayed at Novotel hotel in Marthahalli on the night of her disappearance and then at Marriot hotel in Bellanduru on 5 April.

"She stayed at Novotel hotel on 4 April, and her last known location was at the Marriot hotel where CCTV footage shows she checked out on 6 April. It also showed that she was alone and no one was with her," said Sadiq Pasha, inspector at Marthahalli police station who is investigating the case.

On 4 April, Atreyee’s parents Biplab Majumder and Paramati Majumder were relieved to bring their daughter back to their home in Bellandur.

Atreyee had gone incommunicado in Toronto, and did not respond to calls made by her parents on 3 April. But after a day, she informed her parents that she had landed in New Delhi. "We asked her to fly to Bengaluru straight away," says Biplab.

She reached Bengaluru on 4 April and a relieved Biplab received her at the airport and drove her home at 4:30 pm. "She went straight into her room and slept," says Biplab.

He added that few hours later, at around 9 pm, she stepped out of her house with her purse in hand and she has not been seen since.

A picture of Atreyee has been shared extensively on social media in an attempt to reach her.
"She has not left a digital footprint since she is not carrying a phone. We have also distributed pamphlets, informed hospitals, PG’s and hotels nearby to keep a look out for her." - Sadiq Pasha, inspector at Marthahalli police station

Atreyee is an alumnus of National Law School in Bengaluru and was in Toronto pursuing a post-doctoral research with a fellowship from the Andrew W Mellon Foundation.

Her parents are looking to spread the word of their daughter’s absence.

Friends of Atreyee are also organising a drive to search hospitals, PG’s and hotels nearby.
