One of the 18 passengers who died when the Air India Express flight from Dubai crash landed at the airport in Kozhikode, has tested positive for coronavirus.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said had the plane caught fire after skidding off the runway at the tabletop airport due to heavy rainfall. The Air India Express flight was carrying 190 people, including 6 crew members. With Kerala receiving heavy rainfall over the past few days and a red alert being issued for Friday, the rainfall became hazardous for the flight to land in Kozhikode. The aircraft overshot the runway at Kozhikode airport in rainy conditions and went down 35 feet into a slope before breaking up into two pieces. Over 100 passengers have been injured following the crash. Hardeep Singh Puri, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan will be reaching Kozhikode today while a probe team from Air India Express will fly for Kozhikode from Delhi to investigate the crash.
