Manglore Today News Network

Delhi, Feb 16, 2019 : An FIR has been registered against Basim Hilal, a student of the Aligarh Muslim University, for his tweet over yesterday’s Pulwama attack. Basim has been booked under Section 153A of the Indian Penal Code (promoting enmity) & Section 67A of the Information Technology Act (publishing or transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act, etc., in electronic form). Hilal has also been suspended by his university, Yahoonews reported.

The action against Hilal was taken over a distasteful tweet he posted yesterday soon after a Jaish-e-Mohammad suicide bomber blew up a Central Reserve Police Force bus in Jammu and Kashmir, killing at least 40 jawans.

The attack, which took place in Lethipora in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, attracted widespread condemnation from across the world.

However, some on Twitter thought fit to actually celebrate the attack. These accounts posted vile tweets welcoming the Pulwama attack.

AMU’s Basim Hilal was among those who posted such tweets. Hilal, who is a mathematics student at the university, tweeted, "How’s the Jaish? Great Sir." His tweet was twist on the catchphrase used in the recently released Uri: The Surgical Strike.

In the movie, the Indian Army officer who led the 2016 surgical strike team asks his team, "How’s the josh?"

Basim Hilal’s Twitter account was soon suspended by the social media website.

Meanwhile, the Indian government has come strongly against Pakistan, from where Jaish-e-Mohammad operates.

The government has asked Pakistan to take "verifiable" action against the terrorist group. PM Narendra Modi also said that security forces have been given full freedom to avenge the Pulwama terror attack.
