7 Dead, dozens injured in separate wall collapse incidents in UP after heavy rain

Lucknow, Sep 17, 2021: Seven people have died and dozens have been injured in separate incidents of wall collapse in the Baranbanki district of Uttar Pradesh.

Parts of Uttar Pradesh have been witnessing incessant rainfall since Wednesday night, causing wall collapse at several locations.

A man and his 7-year-old son died after a wall collapsed in the Asandra police station area. Another 7-year-old boy, who lived in the Dariyabad police station area, also succumbed after he was trapped under the rubble following a wall collapse.

The deceased also include a 40-year-old woman who lived near Ram Sanehi Ghat, a 65-year-old woman from the Satrikh police station area, a 45-year-old man from Baddupur and another person from the Lonikatra area.

Following the incidents, the Uttar Pradesh government announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to each of the victims of this disaster.

As several villages were inundated due to the torrential rains, crops worth crores were also damaged in the heavy downpour.

Moreover, a road near Hazratganj caved-in following heavy rains in Lucknow on Thursday.The movement of people has been affected on the Lucknow-Ayodhya highway, which remains blocked due to uprooted trees.The power supply has also been cut in various cities and villages following heavy rainfall.
